Toronto dance theatre in its own home at last - September 6th, 1977

Published in the Toronto Star, the original caption read:
“Toronto dance theatre in its own home at last.Joyful members of the Toronto Dance Theatre; now 10 years old; get a look at their first permanent home; 99-year-old Don Vale Community Centre at Winchester and Sackville Sts. It paid $200;000 for the building and is spending another $800;000 on renovations. Architect Ron Thom is doing the renovation planning for four large studios; a dance school; office and archives space. The new building won't have room for public performances; so dance troupe will still rent space elsewhere.”

a big part of our project is looking at all the ways we can annotate, transcribe, represent, talk about sacra. today i tried putting pen to paper - capturing shape, movement, fabric, people. it was followed by a warm moment of sharing with my fellow dtde deep-divers, who all have equally personal and inspiring interpretations. more to come! -K 🌟
